How Cadence handles your data
Cadence is a universal remote app for iPhone that controls smart TVs over your local Wi-Fi network. This policy explains, in plain language, what Cadence does and does not do with your data. The short version: Cadence talks directly to your TV on your home network. Nothing about what you watch or which buttons you press ever leaves your Wi-Fi, and Cadence requires no account.
When you use Cadence, your iPhone communicates directly with your TV over your own Wi-Fi network, using the manufacturer's local control protocols (for example the network APIs exposed by Roku, Samsung, LG, Sony, Android TV, and Fire TV devices). This means:
Cadence has no account system, no backend that receives your remote activity, and no advertising SDK. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across apps or websites.
iOS will ask Cadence for permission to access devices on your Local Network. This permission is the heart of how Cadence works, so we want to be completely clear about it:
| Data | Why | Where stored | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saved TVs, connection details, and app preferences | To reconnect to your TV and remember your settings | On your device only. Never uploaded anywhere. | Until you delete the app or remove the saved TV |
| Anonymous install identifier (random ID, stored in your device Keychain) | A join key used only for purchases and support — not tied to your identity | Your device Keychain; shared with RevenueCat as the purchase user ID | Until you delete the app |
| Purchase history + anonymous RevenueCat app-user ID | To unlock Cadence Pro and restore purchases | RevenueCat. No name or email. Apple handles payment. | As long as needed to manage your entitlement |
| Optional anonymous usage analytics | To understand aggregate feature usage and improve the app | Aggregated analytics provider. No name/email, no IDFA, no tracking. | Aggregated; per the provider's retention |
Cadence may use lightweight, anonymous analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used (for example which features are opened and how often) so we can improve it. This is minimal and used only for aggregate product improvement.
Cadence offers optional Cadence Pro purchases (subscriptions and a one-time lifetime unlock). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. To manage entitlements and restore purchases, Cadence uses RevenueCat, a third-party purchase-infrastructure provider.
This purchase data is used only to determine whether you have an active Cadence Pro entitlement and to let you restore purchases on your devices. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
Cadence does not collect: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, what you watch, your remote button presses, an inventory of your network devices, browsing or search history, health data, or any advertising/tracking identifiers.
Cadence is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
